The History of Ringo

The Story of Ringo: A Legacy of Connection

The story of Ringo begins several decades ago, in the Connecticut home of Cal and Nancy Blagys. Long before they could put a name to it, a simple game of hook and ring had been woven into the fabric of their lives. For years, it played in the background – a constant source of fun, laughter, and memories with friends and family. After their children left for college, the idea struck. What if this little game, which had brought them so much joy, could be shared with others?

That’s when they gave it a name: Ringo.

From their garage, Cal and Nancy began crafting the first Ringo boards, assembling and marketing them by hand. It didn’t take long before Ringo became a hit, growing from a family tradition to a global phenomenon. To this day, the classic version of Ringo can be found all around the world – still sparking those same joyful moments for families, friends, and communities.

The story didn’t end there. Years later, I found myself on vacation, intrigued by a Ringo board I spotted in a local shop. I wanted one for myself – but when I searched, I couldn’t find it anywhere. After a little research, I tracked down the Blagys, who had since retired. I listened to their story, captivated by how this seemingly simple game had touched so many lives. It wasn’t just a game; it was a way to connect. A way to bring people together, across generations, across backgrounds. Grandparents could play with grandchildren just as easily as college kids could play in dorm rooms.

In that moment, I understood exactly what Cal and Nancy had known all along: Ringo was more than a game. It was an invitation to connect with those we care about. Especially today, when it’s harder than ever to find those moments of genuine connection, Ringo stands as a beacon of togetherness.

In honoring the Blagys’ legacy, we’ve taken Ringo to new heights. While the game has remained true to its roots, it’s now a competitive "social sport" – on par with the likes of darts and cornhole. Fully reimagined, yet still holding true to the spirit of the original, Ringo today is completely original. There’s no other hook-and-ring game like it.

By evolving Ringo, we’ve brought the best of the past into the present, creating a new experience while honoring the timeless tradition of bringing people together. Because in the end, it’s not just about winning—it’s about the memories we create, the laughter we share, and the moments of connection we’ll cherish for years to come.
